Tulsa’s comeback win against Colorado State is paying dividends on the Monday after. The Golden Hurricane swept the weekly conference honors after Saturday’s 30-27 victory against the Rams, in which Carl Salazar kicked a game-winning 34-yard field goal with no time left.
Salazar, a junior from of Broken Arrow (Okla.), was honored with two awards on Monday, the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, and was named to the place-kicking "Stars of the Week" by the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award.
Salazar hit the game-winning field goal from 34 yards as time expired. It was his third of the night. He finished the night going 3-for-3 in each field goals and extra points, scoring with 12 points. His earlier kicks went 31 and 23 yards.
Trey Watts was named the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week. He had 247 all-purpose yards -- 152 which came through rushing on 22 carries, including a 45-yard run that set up the game-winning field goal.
Michael Mudoh was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. He produced a game-high eight tackles and made his first career interception, which set up TU’s first touchdown.
