A new interactive experience will take the place of the Laughing Stock show at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe saloon this summer, inviting adventurous guests to get involved in a Frontierland "land feud." Making use of more just the historic Horseshoe itself, the Legends of Frontierland: Gold Rush experience will send participants all throughout Disney's wild west beginning July 9. The official description goes as such.

Frontierland and its neighbor, Rainbow Ridge, are in the midst of a good, ol’ fashioned land feud. Rainbow Ridge – a once-booming mining town – has dried up, and they have their eyes set on Frontierland... Rumors are spreading that gold has been discovered in mines belonging to Frontierland, and there is even a rumor that Frontierland itself sits on the motherlode! Whether or not the rumors are true, the folk in Rainbow Ridge have one thing on their minds: take over Frontierland! Thus, the struggle begins …

The new initiative is a bit of a departure from the stage shows traditionally featured at the old Horseshoe, with the personalized nature of the new experience even allowing participants to play their own character of sorts. Interactivity has been a significant focus in Disney park planning in recent years, with the Legends show being only the latest example. Across the continent, Walt Disney World visitors have been thwarting Magic Kingdom villains since February 2012 as part of the park-wide Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game experience. Queues too have seen a strong surge in interactive elements, particularly in Florida.

Play testing for the Frontierland experience peaked the interest of fans around the net when it occurred late last summer. Golden Horseshoe cast members informed curious visitors that they were throwing a retirement party for the Frontierland Sheriff, and required guests' help in finding a proper replacement. The prototype experience, filled with a variety of colorful characters, was praised by the fan community for its organic, improvisational game-like feel. Now fleshed out and featuring a classic gold rush premise, the interactive Legends of Frontierland experience looks to be an exciting new addition to Disney's old west.
