Featured in the Mortals of Myth intro pack, Golden Hind is one of the newest Magic: The Gathering cards from Wizards of the Coast's expert expansion set Journey Into Nyx. This common green creature can help accelerate your mana production, allowing you to ramp into more powerful threats and spells early on.

While Golden Hind doesn't hit the battlefield first turn like Elvish Mystic does, instead we're left with a more aggressive threat. In limited formats we'd run a generic 2/1 for two mana any day, and being able to speed up our deck? Why yes, thank you.

At rare, Sylvan Carytid can produce any mana, however it has defender and a power of zero. Golden Hind costs the same amount, is common, and can trade with threats in combat or get some damage in thanks to its power of two. If you're creating a Standard deck ask yourself what's more valuable: Generating colored mana of your choice or the option to deal damage? Depending on your deck's composition and goals, your decision between these two cards can easily differ.

How will you use Golden Hind?
