Golden Globes menu will satisfy

It is time for The Golden Globes and a dinner, too.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is not a big crowd, but their awards bring the headlines. With less than 100 members, the HFPA readies itself for an evening of awards and hopefully, buzz.

The annual party takes place live on NBC tonight (Jan. 12) from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA.

Over the years, it may have lost some clout but the stars shine as they drink and eat a lavish dinner, live on TV. It is not often one gets to see stars actually eat, but this is a dinner and an award show. It is also one big commercial and promotional event for sure.

During commercial breaks, stars will move about and schmooze and catch up with their colleagues, perhaps landing an upcoming role or hashing out an idea. The menu includes a grilled eggplant with sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and hummus on seared tomato; a mini sweet pepper with feta cheese, pomegranate, herb and California olive oil on grilled pita; and completing the trio - a grilled artichoke on multigrain tabbouleh and tahini. That is just the appetizer.

The main dish is fish and meat. Mediterranean spice crusted braised beef short rib and sautéed smoked filet of Atlantic trout, are also part of the meal. Those will be topped with spinach, sweet corn ragout with a light cream of tomato dill sauce. Topping it off is a romanesco, Campari and turnip polenta.

As for dessert, get a load of this menu. Gusto Mango with Tropical Compote with tart, cream neutrals and spires of chocolate. All this is washed down with herbal teas. Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2004 will be flowing throughout the night. Terrazas Reserva Chardonnay 2012 and Terrazas Reserva Malbec 2010 will also be served.

And remember, the winners will not influence Oscar nominations (announced Jan. 16). Their deadline was Jan. 8.

The list of presenters include Kevin Bacon, Kate Beckinsale, Robert Downey Jr., Julie Bowen, Jimmy Fallon, Emilia Clarke, Colin Farrell , Laura Dern, Tom Hanks, Mila Kunis, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence, Seth Meyers, Melissa McCarthy, Liam Neeson, Margot Robbie, Chris O'Donnell , Kyra Sedgwick, Mark Ruffalo, Uma Thurman, Channing Tatum, Emma Watson, Naomi Watts, Olivia Wilde and Reese Witherspoon.
