The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards took place live from The Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday, January 12th. The show was hosted once again by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Actor and musician Jared Leto won the award for Best performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. Leto won the award for his work in "Dallas Buyers Club". In the movie he portrays as Rayon, a transgender who has aids. This is his first Golden Globes award.
Host Amy Poehler joked earlier in the program about actors using prosthetic gentials in movies this awards season.
Therefore as Leto took the stage, "I like to use this opportunity to clear up a few things..I did not ever used any kind of prosthetics in this film, that tiny little Brazilian butt was all mine. It was a very transformative role. I had to do alot things to prepare. One of the things I did wax my entire body including my eyebrows. I am just fortunate it wasn't a period piece, and I didn't have to do full Brazilian. Ladies, you know what I 'm talking about and so do some of you men do too, I think. This is incredible. I didn't make a film almost six years. I was pursuing other dreams, and I have to say it..it's more than an honor to come back and have this love and this support. I never expected it. I never ever dreamed of it. I like to thank my team Nick, Jim, Jason,Robin, Emma for making this...giving me this incredible live. To all the Rayons of the world, thanks for the inspiration."
"Dallas Buyers Club" is Leto's first movie role in 6 years. He filmed "Mr. Nobody" in 2008 and the movie was released in 2009. Leto has been spending the past years touring with his band Thirty Seconds To Mars which consists of his brother Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic. The band is currently on tour in support of their fourth studio album Love Lust Faith + Dreams. The album debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart in May.
