Hollywood kicks off its 2014 awards season tonight with the Golden Globes, according to a Jan. 12 Chicago Tribune report, and actress Lupita Nyong’o is already a pick for best dressed on the red carpet.
The “12 Years a Slave” star is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress award for her phenomenal role in the movie, but who cares when she is a breath of fresh air in one of the most stunning Ralph Lauren gowns ever made. A vision in bold red, Nyong’o kept her cape dress very simple with minimal fashion accessories, including Fred Leighton jewels and her gorgeous smile.
The actress started off her Golden Globe 2014 red carpet fashion scene appearances in a Proenza Schouler ensemble. She accessorized with Jennifer Meyer jewelry and EF Collection rings, Just Jared reported.
As the Examiner previously reported, the beautiful Kenyan fashionista may be new to the international fashion scene, but she is giving red carpet staple a run for their money. Her growing red carpet appeal caught the attention of Vogue Magazine, which included the talented actress among those chosen for the magazine’s “The Ten Rising Style Stars of 2014.”
“She stole every red-carpet heart this fall with her clean silhouettes, close-cropped coif and ear-to-ear smile,” Vogue writes, adding, “The 12 Years a Slave star brought the same radiance and poise to her wardrobe as her Golden Globe–nominated performance.
Other stars on the Golden Globes 2014 red carpet included Kelly Osbourne, Taylor Swift, Naomi Watts, Julia Roberts and many others.
The 71st Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the second consecutive year. The show airs live Sunday, Jan. 13, on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
