According to a Jan. 13 PEOPLE report, Modern Family star and Golden Globe nominee Sofia Vergara has not figured out a way to avoid red carpet wardrobe malfunctions. After the star ripped her dress at the 2012 Emmy’s she now realizes how hard it is to control wardrobe issues on the red carpet.
"It's very easy [for a dress to rip] because you get out of the car, you go up, you try to go to the restroom. When you're on the red carpet, a lot of people step on your dress and pull it," Vergara told PEOPLE recently. "After awhile, that's what causes the stitches to get loose because usually you have those long gowns. You can never really control it, but you just hope for the best."
In spite of her angst, she is still looking forward to enjoying awards season. "It's a celebrating time," she said. "I don't see any stress in it, because for me, the award is just going to the awards show. I never expected in my life that I was going to be part of a show like Modern Family and be nominated for anything. I'm very new to acting, so for me, it's a party."
When it comes to getting ready for tonight’s awards show, Vergara has it under control. "It was more nerve-racking because we didn't know what was going on," she explains. "Now we know the process of getting ready and prepared – the dress, the jewelry. I know now more who the designers are that fit me right. It's getting easier and easier.
The 70th Golden Globe Awards will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The show will air live Sunday, Jan. 13, on NBC at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST from the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
