Golden Globe winners: Jodie Foster 'comes out' in emotional speech (Video)

Veteran actress Jodie Foster gave an emotional speech after being awarded the Cecil B. Demille Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 Golden Globes on Sunday night. The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held Jan. 13 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, and the show aired on NBC from 6-9 p.m. PST. Check out video of Foster's emphatic, yet at times rambling and slightly bizarre (is she trying to tell us she's thankful for the award, currently single, gay, retiring, what exactly?), acceptance speech linked below.

2013 Golden Globe Awards: Jodie Foster Comes Out...Again

Jodie Foster, who has starred in dozens of hit projects over the years, including "Taxi Driver", "Silence of the Lambs", "Panic Room", "Nell" and many, many more. Recently, Foster starred in "The Beaver" with Mel Gibson. Mel Gibson was seated next to Foster at the Golden Globes, prompting some to speculate if Jodie snagged Mel his invite.

During her Cecil B. Demille Award acceptance speech, Jodie Foster mentioned her sexual orientation while at once rejecting the notion that celebrities, or anyone, have no right to privacy in this day and age. "I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago in the stone age," Foster remarked, also stating she didn't feel the need to make a "reality show" out of her life. This whole 'coming out' was likely prompted by Ricky Gervais, who poked fun about Foster's sexuality while hosting last year's Golden Globe Awards.

Though she hadn't specifically had a grand, public coming out as a lesbian, it has been widely known that Foster prefers the company of women. In 2007, Foster confirmed what everyone already knew when she thanked her one-time partner after winning an award, calling the woman "my beautiful Sydney."

Foster and her former partner Cydney Bernard have two sons together. As in previous, telling acceptance speeches over the years, Foster mentioned Bernard at the 2013 Golden Globes; however, Foster also mentioned she is single at the moment.
