According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, the University of Alberta Golden Bears hammered the University of Calgary Dinos 8-1 in game one of the Canada West men's hockey final at Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton on Friday night.
In their worst loss of the season, the Dinos surrendered five first period goals. Dinos goaltenders Jacob DeSerres and Kris Lazaruk gave up four goals each for a Dinos team ranked fourth in Canada prior to losing big time to their provincial rival.
Jamie Crooks and James Dobrowolski each scored twice for a Golden Bears team that can win the Canada West championship on Saturday night in the best of three series.
There is also no question that the Canada West men's hockey coach of the year Mark Howell (Dinos head coach) has a lot of work to do to get his team focused for tonight's game. De Serres, the Canada West men's hockey goaltender of the year, and Dinos' forward Chris Collins, the Canada West men's hockey rookie of the year, will also have to be better.
