Goldberg to mainstream media--'shut the hell up!'

Fox News analyst and former CBS News correspondent Bernard Goldberg has a message for the mainstream media concerning their coverage of the Tuscon shooting--'shut the hell up!'

Goldberg made the comment last evening on Bill O'Reilly's show on Fox.

O'Reilly had already castigated the mainstream media for joining in the Leftwing chorus of blaming conservatives for the massacre that killed a Federal judge and wounded a U.S. Congresswoman, among others.

As a nightly guest on The O'Reilly Factor, Goldberg exposes bias inherent in the news reporting of the media.  Goldberg had been part of CBS News under former anchor Dan Rather, and subsequently became a whistleblower concerning the behind-the-scenes political agenda of reporters who work for mainstream media outlets such as CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, the New York Times, Newsweek Magazine, and others.

During his segment with O'Reilly last evening Goldberg asserted that mainstream media coverage of the Tuscon shooting was 'the absolute worst I have ever seen in all of my years as a news reporter.'

Of particular concern to Goldberg was the manner in which in one accord the talking heads, the reporters, the pundits, and even the Sheriff of Pima County, Arizona politicized the tragedy, fixing the blame for the massacre not upon the deranged shooter but upon Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and a host of conservative commentators.

Said Goldberg, 'And they made these accusations without a shred of evidence linking the alleged shooter to any political rhetoric whatsoever.'

A case in point is that New York Times columnist Paul Krugman wrote on his Times blog a mere 2 hours after the shooting on Saturday that the massacre was directly due to the vitriolic political rhetoric of conservatives--before there was even any news of who had done the shooting.

In addition, Sheriff Clarence Dupnik of Pima County, Arizona admitted to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly upon intense questioning that he had absolutely no evidence that suggested that alleged shooter Jared Lee Loughner was influence in any way whatsoever by political rhetoric.

Upon making his point that the Sheriff, the mainstream media, and Leftwing bloggers and politicians were making ludicrous accusations concerning the shooter's motivation, Goldberg declared that the entire lot should simply 'shut the hell up.'

Further investigations by credible journalists have revealed this morning that Sheriff Dupnik had a lengthy laundry list of threats made by alleged murderer Jared Loughner.  College classmates had complained to professors and administrators about Loughner, and on at least one occasion local law enforcement visited a classroom in order to reassure students and professors that they had the protection of the Sheriff's office in light of their concerns about Loughner.

Eventually Loughner was kicked out of the college for his disruptive behavior that frightened other students.

Further, it was revealed that the FBI had discovered a letter from Congresswoman Giffords, written to Loughner, after an encounter between the 2 at a previous town hall meeting in Gifford's Congressional district.  Information was also discovered indicating that Loughner had made death threats in the past, although law enforcement refused to provide details as to the recipients of the threats.

Yet the Pima County Sheriff's office apparently had not stepped up its surveillance of Loughner, given that he was allowed close proximity to Giffords--with a firearm.

One reporter wondered if the Sheriff politicized the tragedy, implicating conservatives with no evidence, in order to cover up his own failure to provide adequate surveillance of Loughner and to divert attention away from the failure of the Sheriff's office to give protection to Giffords in light of the threat posed by a known mental case who had made death threats.

Goldberg's outrage against the news media stemmed from the failure of most outlets to do the job of credible journalists in focusing purely on the facts rather than pontificating about possible motives with no evidence to back it up.  And very few outlets have properly investigated the apparent multiple failures of the Pima County Sheriff's office in properly dealing with a deranged individual with a long history of making local citizens afraid for their lives.

I wonder how much of the U.S. it occurs to that 'authorized journalists' are usually about as credible as six year olds?

Of all people the news media should have stricter standards. Conservatives nor liberals were responsible for this tragedy. Both sides use violent metaphors and as it turns out this kid apparently wasn't influenced by either side.
Before the left starts spouting off about vitriol though they might want to look in their own direction as Terry Lakin has received death threats for questioning Obama's eligibility.
I pray Gabrielle will make a full recovery as well as the others who were wounded and that God will comfort the families of the slain.
