“Gold Rush Alaska” saw Dakota Fred accumulate enough gold last week to break even with the expenses he's spent so far for this venture, according to the Huffington Post. The rest of the gold he mines from now on is pure profit, making way for a rare grin to take over his face. This week the Hoffman crew enjoys the same success. They pull enough gold out of Mother Earth to put their finances back in the black.
John returns to Pine Creek after recovering from his heart attack. With the winter weather is nipping at the three gold mining camps they’ve got only a few weeks to pull what they can out of the ground before their claims are frozen over in ice and snow. Many of the surrounding camps have pulled up stakes for the winter and headed south, but not the Hoffman crew or Dakota Fred. Even John is still hanging in there with Parker gone back home to school.
Friday night’s show is appropriately named “In the Black,” which is a day many of the novice gold miners on the Hoffman crew thought would never come. These men risked everything to get to where they are today and if they can just pull enough gold out of the ground now to have a modest profit, this second season will prove a success for this crew.
Connecticut fans of “Gold Rush Alaska” can catch their new episodes on Friday night at 9pm EST on Connecticut’s Discovery Channel
