After a three month coaching search, Nashville Overton got their man to lead the program into the future.

Steve Williams, a former Bobcat himself, has been selected as the new head football coach at Overton.

Williams, 54, graduated from Overton in 1977.

"I'm so happy and honored to be the new head coach at Overton," Williams said. "I've come full circle and to me Coach Anderson and Nick Courtas are Overton football"

"It's a privilege to coach here and I know what is excepted and what Overton football means."

He replaces longtime coach Terry Anderson who retired after leading the Bobcats to an undefeated regular season and a 11-1 record in 2013.

“We are very excited about bringing Steve Williams back to Overton to take charge of our football program," Overton Principal Shuler Pelham said.

"We were fortunate to have many well-qualified applicants for the position. We feel that Steve was a great fit for us and he is ready to hit the ground running.”

Williams has served as the Defensive Coordinator for Blackman the last two years.

He has also been an assistant coach at Smyrna (1994-98), Hillsboro (1999-2000), Overton (2001-02) and Lavergne (2003-11).

The Overton job will be his first head coaching job in football as he has served as head baseball coach at Lavergne and head softball coach at Blackman.

Williams' defense at Blackman was a main reason, the Blaze have gone 19-7 over the last two years.

Blackman went 11-3 in 2013 as they went to the Class 6A Semifinals for the first time in school history.

Currently there are open jobs at Northeast, Pickett County, Chattanooga Christian, Hickman County, Hixson, Whitwell, Middle Tennessee Christian, Clay County, Bolivar, Fairley, Ezell Harding, Marion County, Chattanooga Central and Jackson Christian as schools currently looking for a head coach.
