A healthier diet doesn't have to mean deprivation. Some eateries are catering to the growing gluten intolerant population. Zpizza is one of those. Recently the company opened a restaurant in La Quinta, a little over 100 miles east of Los Angeles. While there are several Zpizza's in LA, this is a first for sunny Coachella Valley.
Next to Henry's Farmers Market on Highway 111 and Adams Street, Zpizza uses certified organic ingredients. Crusts come either gluten-free, dairy free, or regular. Cheese choices are vegan and part skim, rBGH free mozzarella. Given to dairy cows to boost milk production, the hormone rBGH has been linked to breast cancer. Zpizza has delicious salads, too!
According to The CDC, there are an estimated 3,000,000 people in the United States with celiac disease, a common genetic autoimmune disorder.
