Your National Cruise Examiner is about to embark on some 'cardio-cruising' by heading out to sea to cover Princess Cruises Valentine’s Day Ruby Princess “Cruising for a Cause” sailing that departs Fort Lauderdale on Monday, Feb. 10 and returns on Feb. 15. We are really looking forward to time in the sun (it’s rather cold where we live in Los Angeles right now), taking snorkel excursions in Cozumel and Grand Cayman (which we prebooked at the Cruise Personalizer), and having massages on February 14 (also reserved on line). Of course we are also eagerly anticipating the learning experiences that will be offered on board.
The second in the series of heart health theme voyages, the agenda features several experts who will talk the topic such as a renowned cardiac surgeon, a celebrity chef, an award-winning author, a four-time Super Bowl champion, and a cast member from the hit television series “The Love Boat”. The benefit cruise will raise funds for the American Heart Association’s (AHA) programs and educational outreach.
The ‘heart felt” Valentine’s Day-themed and timed Caribbean cruise will provide passengers the opportunity to attend the American Heart Association’s Hands-Only TM CPR; seminars on how to better manage stress, diet, and exercise; and a heart disease and stroke survivor reception. Other offerings include complimentary blood pressure screenings, participation in a fundraising walk on deck, patterned after AHA’s successful HeartWalks and holiday themed programming that will include a special onboard renewal of vows and other romantic touches. The cruise will be capped off with a Ruby Red Gala party (my gown and Richard’s tuxedo are already packed).
This will mark my second voyage on the Ruby Princess since sailing on her inaugural in 2008 (see slideshow). If you’re interested to learn more about this timely and topical cruise, come back often as we will be sending reports from ship to shore via WiFi from our stateroom.
