After the recent news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Looper”) had passed on the leading role, but Frank Darabont (AMC’s “The Walking Dead”) had been hired to rewrite the script, the new “Godzilla” reboot has caused mixed feelings at best.
CHUD is reporting today that they were given access to a web-based seminar with Warner Bros., and they learned that the new film will feature multiple monsters for “Godzilla,” the king of monsters, to face off against.
With that good news came more bad news that the new film would focus and follow the story of one soldier (the role of which had been offered to JGL).
This is terrible news since this is meant to be a monster movie, a reboot of a classic monster movie no less, and now they want to shift the focus away from the mayhem and destruction in order to have a compelling leading man try to sell seats.
For shame Warner Bros., for shame.
