The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival announced its lineup and initial tour dates this morning, and Denver is one of the surprisingly few major markets that will be hosting returning headliner Godsmack and openers.
The lighter sister tour to the mighty Mayhem Festival (playing Denver on July 14 at Red Rocks), Uproar typically boasts more radio-friendly acts and this year's run brings support bands Seether, Skillet, Buckcherry, Pop Evil, Escape The Fate, Redlight King, Sons Of Revelry, These Raven Skies, Tattered, and even a non-musical performance by the Suicide Girls. 3 Years Hollow, Within Reason, and New Medicine will rotate out of the last slot in three shifts during the tour.
The Denver show at 1st Bank Center on September 9 will not feature Escape The Fate, These Raven Skies, Redlight King, Sons Of Reverly, or Tattered, but still boasts the hard-rocking Godsmack, who headlined the 2012 Uproar tour as well as Mayhem '11 (read my review here). With the show reduced to a 5 band lineup, fans can hope for slightly longer sets at the Tuesday evening concert, and definitely a little more intimacy inside the venue.
There are still plenty of gaps in the Uproar tour schedule, so expect additional dates to be announced, including possibly an off-date show with the absent opening bands, just like Mayhem is doing this year. Tickets go on sale until next Friday, 6/27 on Ticketmaster.com.
