This weekend Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are organizing their dueling rallies to Restore Sanity and to Keep Fear Alive. They aren’t the only one’s organizing however. The United Coalition of Reason is also planning on attending the event in support of the dueling rallies.
The United Coalition of Reason (UnitedCoR) has set up smaller coalitions in twenty-nine cities across the nation which seeks to foster communication between the various atheist, humanist, and freethought groups within the various cities. Their goal is to raise visibility for the local groups and to build a stronger community of reason.
The newest of the Coalition of Reason groups is the Washington DC Coalition (WashingtonCoR). The timing of the Comedy Central rallies coincides perfectly with WashingtonCoR’s bus shelter advertising campaign. The thirteen organization Coalition will be gathering under a general UnitedCoR banner and have asked visitors from other Coalitions of Reason in other cities to join them if they are attending the rallies.
Even if you are not a member of any of the Coalition groups, all atheists, humanists, and freethinkers (or any other label you like to use) are encouraged to rather together behind the UnitedCoR banner to help raise visibility for the community of reason and to help meet new friends.
The groups are organizing at the Navy Memorial on the Pennsylvania Avenue side near 7th Street, NW at about 10:30am on October 30th. The Rally to Restore Sanity starts at noon on the National Mall. At 11am, the UnitedCoR groups will start the two block walk toward the Mall behind the UnitedCoR banner. For the latest information and for details about a gathering afterward, people can check and post to the twitter hashtag #UnitedCoR.
Some PhillyCoR members are planning on organizing here in Philadelphia first and then taking the train down to DC together. The Philly Atheist Meet-up is currently having a discussion about that HERE.

This would be a good thing to do some other time; however. right now anyone who has time for activism would be wise to work as a volunteer for those candidates who are on our side or at least not dangerous.
There are some other atheist groups planning to go too. You can find coverage of them here:
