A Daily Word from the Word for Tuesday, June 10, 2014
“When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” – Isaiah 59:19b
One day last year, when I was in church service and during praise and worship, the Lord showed me a vision. In this image, He showed me a large ship, which was traversing on the sea. Suddenly, enormous waves broke forth and came crashing down on this vessel. As the waves came down over the ship, the lookout extended higher into the sky.
This ship did not go under, as it adjusted to the increasing size and intensity of the waves. The higher the waves became, the higher the lookout went. I was drawn to the lookout, as God was having me focus on this important piece of equipment.
Later in the week, as I pressed in for revelation, the Father took me to our study verse: Isaiah 59:19. The Hebrew word for “enemy” as used in this verse is tsar (pr. tsawr)¸which is “a tight place (usually figurative., i.e.: trouble).” A “flood” (nahar, pr. naw-hawr) represents the sea. The “Spirit” of the Lord is Ruwach (pr. Roo-akh), and is life (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance).
When I did a study on the word “lift up a standard,” I understood why the Lord had me focus on the lookout, as this phrase represents the lookout. There is one Hebrew word and meaning for this string of words “lift up a standard”; which is nuwc (pr. noos), and means “display.” According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, “display” means “to put or spread before the view (display the flag).”
What a powerful image brought to life by this sure and comforting promise of God! No matter what the enemy tries to flood you with, no matter how tight that space seems to be, your Faithful Father will raise you up on that lookout; like a flag being raised up a flag pole, so you will be above the storm! Not only will your Loving Lord lift you high, but He will allow you to survey the situation and see it for what it really is, from God’s perspective; so that you can take comfort seeing this flood as God sees it: as nothing more than a thimble full of water!
The Spirit of the Lord speaks life; and therefore raises your standard of living, and places you above the fray so that you continue to be carried by His peace that surpasses all understanding, as you fly the flag of victory, which is YOU kept in all your ways by the Blood of Jesus.
Father, thank You for keeping us safe from the enemy by raising us high above the flood. Thank You, Most Capable Father, for carrying us high on Your wings, as we fly your flag of Victory! In Jesus Name, we thank You for His Blood, which keeps us safe, sound, and dry. Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to seek higher ground in the arms of your Father, when the enemy comes in like a flood. Choose to put your trust in the high places of God; rather than the low places of your own abilities and reasoning. And continue to fight the good fight of allowing your Lord to lift up a standard for you; for God, your Ultimate Look-out, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
