We live In a world where many are professing God, and aren't living according to his holy expectation and standard. It could be that some don't believe that he really is and has become self-righteous, or wasn't taught to fully seek out his will and are only "doing their best," or just don't realize that one must have the power necessary to become that christian, according to holiness.
God is more than what some believe him to be. For example - He seems to be only recognized on Sunday; and during the rest of the week, such holiness is substituted with "careless living" and placed "upon the shelf," until next Sunday. That's not true holiness, the kind that God is expecting. For when he said, "Be ye holy," he made no reference to a certain day. He's expecting holiness everyday.
God is more than just printed words on the pages of a bible - he becomes the "living word" by the power of his spirit residing within a person. And, without that power to "live out" those words, everything else is just religion, because the real power of God needed for holiness was left out. He has made his power of salvation available to the one willing to accept it, and has left no excuse for anyone professing to "own" him, to not have it.
For there are those who profess him, but the lifestyle doesn't "match up" to the talk. Therefore, it's necessary to not only repent, but to also "take on Christ" in that "one baptism" and receiving the evidence of his spirit. The Holy Ghost, which is the spirit of Christ, is what makes a person a christian. And if Acts 2:38 is left out, don't expect anyone else to see the "real Christ."
For many more are also saying, "God, where are you?" But, that gives them no excuse to reject him for sin's sake, because the Lord has someone who's upholding his standard of holiness each day. For it is that light, which also is the outward physical evidence of himself "talking."
So, be the one who acknowledges the Lord through the "walk and talk" of that type of christian; for God has not left anyone an excuse to present to him in that great day. For he'll let such a person know that he was there all along; but you was rather too "preoccupied" and failed to take heed and obey me.

Things happen in life that question the reality of our faith in God. Personally, I've never had difficulty relating with God since I became born again. The only problem I've had is getting God to answer some of my prayers THE WAY I WANT THEM ANSWERED. The truth is, God has made Himself too real for us to ignore Him. As to the issue of Christians who don't manifest God's holiness, I believe the major challenge is foundational. What gospel was preached to them in the first place? I ask this because there are a lot of things that have replaced the gospel of Jesus Christ. If a person accepted the 'Father Christmas Jesus' that's being preached in most churches and Christian gatherings, would he aspire to live a life of holiness? If he's been assured that all he needs to do is 'give his life to Christ' to enjoy the good things of life, what's the motivation for him to desire holiness that will require him to die to self?
