On Friday July 11, 25-year-old Prionda Hill was driving in Fort Wayne, Indiana when suddenly out of know where, God spoke to her and told her, “He would take it from here.” Hill then let Jesus take the wheel and hit a 47-year-old motorcyclist. Police caught up with Hill several blocks away at a fast food restaurant.
The motorcyclist, Anthony Oliveri, suffered multiple injuries. Addictive Information details the extent of those injuries:
“breaking all of his ribs on his left side, damaging his spleen, bruising his kidney and leaving him with road rash that covered much of his back and extremities.”
CBS News local affiliate reports that despite his injuries, Oliveri actually feels “blessed” to be alive. Just like the image of the Virgin Mary on a slice of toast, apparently the road rash on Oliveri’s back resembles a set of wing. This has prompted his fiancé to comment that, a “guardian angel was watching over him, and that she gave him her wings.”
According to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Hill has been charged with “failure to stop after an accident resulting in injury or death, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal mischief,” and is currently “being held on $6,500 bail.”
Last year, a Facebook events page jokingly promoted the idea of a “Jesus Take the Wheel Day.” The page asked that on March 31, people let Jesus take the wheel. It was believed that the page was so over-the-top ridiculous that no one would take it seriously. In light of Hill’s recent actions, that belief may have to be reconsidered.
