In the beginning God spoke and the universe, and the Earth were created. God then filled the earth with flora, and fauna. Once God was done creating a home, he placed man in the Garden and spoke to his creation in a one on one personal way.
Down through the ages God spoke in a personal way to Abraham, Issac and Moses. He spoke to others in dreams and visions then one day he stopped because of mankind's refusal to listen. The old testament ends with Malachi the last one to be called to proclaim God's Words to the people.
For four hundreds years mankind had no new prophecies from God then one day a, “voice came calling out the wilderness,” John the Baptist. He paved the way for God himself to come and talk. Jesus stepped down from Heaven to have a personal and verbal relationship with mankind. He taught the precepts of God and told others to love God, first and wholeheartedly and others as they love themselves.
As in the past some listened, most didn't. Mankind once again rebelled against the Creator and Jesus was crucified. But it was not the end, but the beginning. In three days Jesus arose, said some final words, in person to Peter, the rest of the disciples, most likely to His family, like James and then He ascended back into Heaven.
Now, God for the most part speaks through the Bible and providence but one day that will all change. In Revelation 19:15 has these words from God concerning the return of Jesus, “From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron.”
Once Jesus came to offer words of love and of a new life. One day he will return, but His words will no longer be comforting they we be a “sharp sword” bringing down judgment on those who wouldn't listen to His words the first time and repent.
Until Jesus return it is up to each and every Christian to be the voice of God and spread Hid word to those who have never heard.
