Many in Columbia, TN celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day as others in Washington, D.C. celebrated the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Many celebrated the two leaders together as they believe that their dreams are interconnected. It is true often times that many dreams, goals, and aspirations will overlap to become interdependent. Dr. King’s dream was for all people from various backgrounds. Today, the 57th Presidential Inauguration took place. He is a President with a cultural background similar to many African Americans. More than that President Obama had a dream very similar many Americans and achieved it with hard work like others pursuing their dreams.
The Bible talks of a young man that had a series of dreams. His family did not like it when he told them about his dreams. His brothers wanted to eliminate him because of his dreams. Eventually, he was sold and went to live in Egypt where God still showed him favor and protection. This young man rose to leadership even after being falsely accused and sent to jail. Joseph, the young man, became a great leader and saw his dreams come to pass.
Joseph did not become bitter and resentful about the bad that happened to him. He even chose to show much kindness to his brothers. He told them how God was in control. “But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.”(Genesis 45:7-8) Believer in Jesus know that God will see to it that His dream will come to pass. Jesus was God’s dream for mankind. Jesus came did He not!
