The lyrics are hard to understand due to the 'style' they are sang with, so here are the lyrics and some history.
God save the Queen
A fascist regime
They made you a moron
Potential H-bomb
God save the Queen
She ain't no human being
There is no future
In England's dreaming
Don't be told about what you want
Don't be told about what you need
No future, no future, no future for you
God save the Queen
We mean it, man
We love our Queen
God saves
God save the Queen
Tourists are money
But our figurehead
Is not what she seems
God save history
God save your mad parade
Oh Lord, have mercy!
All crimes are paid
When there's no future, how can there be sin?
We're the flowers in the dustbin
We're the poison in the human machine
We're the future, we're the future
God save the Queen
We mean it, man
We love our Queen
God saves
God save the Queen
We mean it, man
We love our Queen
God saves
No future, no future
No future, no future
No future, no future
No future, no future
No future, no future
No future, no future
No future for you
The Sex Pistols were the premiere Punk band, they started it all. There were other bands that are often regarded as punk pioneers. The Ramones and The New York Dolls are always mentioned in a punk conversation. The Ramones should get their props, but they weren't hardcore punk and listening to them today, (as opposed to when they played The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach, Ca. when they were considered cutting edge), They sound like a gentle punk version of The Beach Boys. They were a great band, but not true punk. The New York Dolls, which featured David Johansen, was a Glam band. Johansen has reformed the band and is still touring.
For more information on The Sex Pistols, there is the great film 'Sid & Nancy' about the ill-fated love affair between Sid Vicious and Nancy Spurgen. There is also a few documentaries on all three bands.
eLyrics is a great site to review lyrics.
