Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; (Psalm 95)
Happy Sunday! I hope you have a place to go today to do what the psalmist tells us to do in this verse. This text, and those that follow, was actually sung in the Temple worship of Israel. When we read the Psalms, we are actually reading lyrics to songs. All one hundred fifty psalms are songs. They are literally, “God’s Greatest Hits”.
When we sing for joy to the Lord, we are expressing one form of worship. I have come to the conclusion that heart-felt worship is the highest use of the human personality. I also am convinced that we were created to be worshippers. Jesus said that God seeks men and women who worship him in spirit and in truth. Part of the purpose of the Church is to come together and express our praise and gratitude for who God is, and all he does. Try not to let the distractions of modern life keep you from this experience. You will be the one who gets the blessing! Today, go to a place where people are worshipping God, and "sing for joy to the Lord." Then keep doing it throughout this day.
