You’ve no doubt by now seen Sony’s live action “God of War: Ascension” trailer, either online or in an abridged form during the Super Bowl. If not, treat yourself to it here. The stunning two-minute trailer, done in the Greco-Roman style made popular by Zach Snyder’s “300,” and Starz’ “Spartacus," depicts an ethereal vision of how the series' protagonist, Kratos, loses his family. This loss acts as the catalyst for the series, and in particular drives the events of the latest title, the forthcoming “God of War: Ascension.”

Sony recently released two behind the scenes featurettes showing how teams at costume and production house Quantum Creation FX brought the legendary Spartan to life. Through painstaking attention to detail in costume design and makeup, artists at Quantum Creation FX were able to turn actor and model Brandon White into the character we’ve come to know and, in some sick way, love.

This attention to detail does not go unnoticed, and the end results are stunning. Watch the first behind the scenes video below, and catch the second in the link. “God of War: Ascension” will be available March 12, exclusively for the Playstation 3, and will have the option to be bundled with an exclusive garnet PS3.
