I first played the game at PAX Prime 2012 and focused on the solo play mode. Now we get hands on with the multiplayer mode and show that this is a real challange thanks to the fast and brutal action and tons of moves and powers that players can unleash as they battle for the favor of the gods.
This is the first title in the highly popular series to incorporate multiplayer and the action is furious and deadly. Aside from special movies, players will be able to bring in special weapons and power ups as they attempt to gain favor from the ever fickle gods. This is no easy task as players must select their patron diety at the start and will need their blessings in order to advance and be able to obtain armor, weapon, and other upgrades.
At first it seemed as if the game was little more than button mashing and hoping to survive, but the tutorial provided does allow players to develop a style best suited to their needs. I found a simple approach is often better as a good kick and a finish is often better than powering up your chains and bringing on the wrath of the gods.
Look for God of War: Ascension on the Playstation 3.
