A Daily Word from the Word for Wednesday, September 18, 2013
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
How is your day going, family? Is your day going according to plan? That is, God’s plan. Do you rejoice each morning with the agreement of Heaven on your lips as you decree, with resounding conviction from your spirit: “This is the day the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Or do you confess something less, and something lacking?
Do you wonder what the day will hold, or do you hold fast to the confession of your faith and shout with great anticipation and expectancy that “I thank you Father, that You have ordered my steps and made my crooked paths straight. I thank you, Holy God, that my feet are permanently and securely bound to the steps you have ordered for me, and You will not allow me to veer to the right or to the left; nor will you allow any person or any demon to take me out of the steps you have ordered for me” (Psalm 37:23, Psalm 119:133, Isaiah 42:16, Proverbs 4:27).
Do you delight in the surprises that your Divine Daddy has prepared and is unpacking for you each day? Do you feast on the Father’s fresh mercies which are newly-baked and delivered to your door each morning; or are you murmuring and complaining as you hold on to the past by foraging for yesterday’s stale bread which has long since served its purpose?
I hear some of you saying “But Brother Matt, you just don’t understand!” Don’t but me, my brother! Get it together, my sister! God is good all the time, and He is on the throne! Your ‘but’ will cancel out the promises of God. You better break that ‘but’ off of you and stand in agreement and on the Word of the Lord!
I have just come out of a long two and a half year trial. It started two and a half years ago when I lost my full-time job, then three weeks later, my son was taken from me (and returning home next month), and then shortly after that, I lost my house. Yet through it all, I stood and stood and stood. And then I stood some more! It was the confession of my faith that sustained me—feeding on the Word of God, and not consuming the crumbs of the world’s false promises and deadly lies.
And you know what? Just like King David, the Lord has caused me to recover all! The process of recovery has begun! And, by faith, I know that not only has the Lord caused me to recover all, but like Job, it will be a full recovery and a double-portion added to it! Now that’s a confession, family! And like David, I say with profound gratitude from every cell in my being that if it had not been for the Lord, I would have gone under (1 Samuel 30:18, Job 42:10).
I am here to encourage you today, son and daughter of the Most High King! “Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in!” (Psalm 24:7). Rise up! Break through your situation and your circumstances with the promises of the Most Faithful Father, in Whom every promises is ‘YES’ and ‘AMEN!’ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Today is your day, my brother and sister; because God created it just for you. This is the day that the Lord has made, so rejoice and be glad in it!
Father, thank You for this day. Thank You that You created this day uniquely for each and every one of us, filled with Your promises. Help us to see each day as You have spoken it. We call to You, Oh God, to reveal the hidden things of each day, and we look forward each morning to unwrapping the wonderful adventure that You have prepared just for us to share with You. In Jesus Name, we thank You that this is the day that You have made, and we do most joyously rejoice and are glad in it! Amen and Amen!
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to wake up with the confession of Heaven’s agreement on your lips. Choose to commune with your most loving and mindful Father each morning. Determine to speak only what God has spoken concerning you, which are good things. And continue to fight the good fight of changing your circumstances with the Father’s truth; for God, your Daily Bread, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
