“And He will be the stability of your times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the Lord is his treasure." Isaiah 33:6
Stability, a wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge are words that, as humans, we crave to define our lives. Although we do not always desire to make these words a part of our spiritual lives, our zeal for them might show in other ways; such as, through our dedication to our job, our family, our schooling, or to our relationships.
While there is nothing wrong with desiring stability and wisdom in these things, there is something wrong when all we desire is stability in these things and nothing else. This verse describes a God who offers us something far greater than the world or all it could ever offer. This verse describes a God who is stable, full of wisdom and knowledge, and who offers us a gift that is far greater than anything money, power, or knowledge could ever help us to attain and that is the gift of salvation. We must place our hope in Christ and pour ourselves into Him and maintaining a close, loving relationship with Him, before anything or anyone else. If we do not do this first, nothing we do or desire in this world will ever be stable or complete.
The world is always changing and unstable, but Jesus Christ always remains the same and as the verse says, “is the stability of our times.” We must remember to seek Him, love Him, and fear Him each and everyday in order to experience the stability, knowledge, and wisdom He offers.
