God has called you to be a leader! Yes─ you were born to be a leader. Within everyone is the power to be a great leader. Unfortunately, many leadership qualities lie dormant never awakened. However, make no mistake, God has placed within you the ability to become a great leader. It is never too early or too late to become an effective leader.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me.─ Philippians 4:13 ESV
The amount of people you lead will vary but your success will depend on your willingness to allow God to develop you. The first step is learning how to self-lead with God’s help. You are the most important person that you will ever lead. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! If leadership is something new to you do not attempt to start with your family, friends, co-workers or anyone else. As tempting as you might be to want to lead others, you must first develop and maintain self-leadership.
The bible is full of examples of good and bad leaders. However, you can turn to Jesus who is the most influential leader the world will ever know. He is a great example of a positive power-impacting leader. Another great leader was Moses who led the children of Israel out of Egypt. He faced many challenges and at times, he grew frustrated and weary. However, he maintained his focus in leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Joshua who succeeded Moses in death and ultimately led the children of Israel into the promise land was also a great leader. Then there was Esther, the Queen of Persia who saves the Jewish nation from annihilation.
Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. ─Hebrews 13:7 ESV
Being a good leader is a challenge but it is not impossible. God has placed within you everything that you need to become a great leader. If you have invited Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior (1 John 1:9), you have the Holy Spirit working inside of you (Romans 8:9-11). You have the same power that raised Christ from the dead working inside of you (Romans 8:11). God Himself is working on the inside of you guiding and directing you through life.
There are many great resources available to help develop the leader in you. Let the bible be your primary reference guide as you read other material on the subject of leadership. Understanding Your Potential by Myles Munroe offers great insight into understanding the potential God has placed within you. Another great book is A Leader In The Making by Joyce Meyer.
