"God Given Talent" - what is it?

“Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.” John Wooden

We’re not talking about the talents in the Bible (even though you could look at the money that was in the parable as something not being used), nevertheless it was lost to the man who was unwise with that responsibility. We are speaking of God Given Talents.

What is a talent? “A talent is a special natural ability or aptitude”. It is a gift from God that comes naturally to you. It may be writing, cooking, singing (check out the video), public speaking, drawing, playing a musical instrument, taking care of children, cleaning, sewing, teaching, building, designing or just listening to another person (that sometimes may take a special ability); and the list goes on and on.

There is another expression and that is: “Use it or lose it”. Recently this writer had a broken ankle and had to stay off her leg for about two months. The leg that was unused became smaller than the other leg. The muscles weren’t used therefore atrophy set in. Here we are only speaking about limbs. The same thing can also be associated with the brain. If one doesn’t use a particular God given gift, that ability will not develop. What’s the point? Discover your gift & “Use it or lose it”. In January, 2010, Faith Christian Center of Jacksonville, Florida has provided people with a series to help one find their Purpose. The information is still available at the Faith Food Book Store.

So the question to you is, “What is YOUR God given talent, and have you used it to your utmost potential?”
