God brings needed moisture to Colorado

The hand of God's providence encircled the Denver metro area last night, blanketing the earth with snow.

9News reports from 11 inches in Denver to 13 in Northglenn. The winter storm warning continues today with a projected 8-12 inches of snow.

In reaction to the needed moisture brought from God, various schools and events are cancelled throughout the city. The list of closed schools and institutions is located in the usual websites such as 9News.

However, the usual websites, newspapers and sources of current events will likely not explain this weather beyond casual references to "mother nature." Implied in this reference is the assumption that nature is a product of change and evolution. That chaos created order.

Christians strenuously deny this. They see such events as today's snow storm as evidence of God's active hand in creation. The immense complexity of such a storm is beyond the full comprehension of man. Today's snow demonstrates the limited mind of man in contrast to the unlimited mind of God.

The full complexity and beauty of  the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" can be seen in the mysterious formation of snow itself. As science writer Margaret Wertheim notes in the book, What We Believe but Cannot Prove, even "a Theory of Everything would not even help us to understand how snowflakes form" (p. 177).

Scientists have been pondering this question since Kepler but to no avail. Caltech physicist Kenneth Libbrecht has meticulously studied this question for over twenty years and still has no answer.

And even if and when he or others explain the transition from water to ice, mankind could never have created the very process itself. Even the best of science operates within the confines of existing laws and materials that were not created by humans.

In fact, the formation of snow and storms illustrates another important fact: that all created things are dependent upon something in this universe.  The people in Denver are dependent on the moisture brought from this snow storm. They are dependent upon God bringing needed moisture to Colorado.

"God thunders marvelously with His voice;
He does great things which we cannot comprehend.
For He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth';
Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength."

(Book of Job 37:5-6)
