It doesn't matter what you call them. This time of year is the well known month of resolutions. This is the time of year many of us sit down to think about what we want to achieve. For some of us, it is concrete: weight loss, a savings account, a debt paid off. For some it is loftier and less tangible: happiness, love for our children, health.
Last year, our family set a group goal: to buy nothing new for a year. While we had many slips (not a month went by that we didn't buy something new), on the whole, we felt successful and have every intention of continuing on this path. (For more, you may visit my blog.)
This was a fairly large goal that took family commitment and a reasonable amount of organization. But goals this big are attainable one step at a time. A change per month.
This is part of the premise of Hip Mountain Mama's One Small Change. Her challenge combines resolutions with earth-friendly changes. Earth friendly changes can also mean frugal changes, because the two so often overlap.
If you are looking for a personal challenge, something small, but with the support of a large group, make your way over to check out One Small Change. Read what others are up to, think about what suits you, and challenge yourself to make a wallet friendly, earth friendly change.
Happy New Year!
