Goals are the magic of achieving?

There is a definition for goals that best fits what it takes to achieve goals. They must be specific, measurable, achievable, results-oriented, and time qualified. Goals require specific desired achievements that are written in simplistic wording and completely understood by the person or persons making or accepting the goal. They are most often obtained by laying out a plan with specific steps to achieve specific result. When a goal is not achieved the reason is either a faulty plan or the plan was not implemented based on daily awareness and activities that are required to succeed.

A question you should ask yourself once you have written your goal is, "What will the goal accomplish as well as how and why do I want to achieve this goal"? Once you know what, why and how to succeed you may want to ask yourself, what is the necessary knowledge, resources, skills you need and whether you have the ability to succeed. In picking your goal this means make sure it is believable to you.

Can you achieve your goal?

Make sure the resources are available, too. A mistake would be that if your goal is relating to your work and the company you are working for is not willing to do their part by giving you the appropriate resources. When you have buy in by everyone involved in the goal, make sure it is measureable.

A measureable goal has to have objective proof that you can and have accomplished the goal. In most goals there are specific items that have been completed. Some of these items may be short term or multiple parts adding up to the entire specific goal. Then they have a result that is expected from the activities that are done to achieve the goal.

Activities are not the goal

What is important is the activities are not the goal they are the daily events that are taking place to achieve the results. When the goal is personal or company oriented, you need a method to evaluate the performance. These goals have to be designed to improve your personal and business life and set within a specific time.

The specific time is causing a requirement for urgency by always achieving some small events leading up to the total goal. Usually there is some form of tension caused by this time specific well defined goal. This tension is created by placing yourself in vision of achievement of the goal and all the events that are required for achievement.
