The wildest and meatiest culinary event in the Northwest comes to Timberline Lodge again on September 7, 2014. Nicky USA's Wild About Game features head-to-head cooking competitions between Portland and Seattle chefs, with the audience savoring bites of the results.
Over 40 food artisans, brewers and winemakers provide samples in the artisan marketplace. Get up close and learn about the amazing sustainably raised and produced meat, cheese, salt, wine, beer and more. Industry insiders will provide their perspective. It is definitely the wildest food event, built by Nicky USA, the provider of locally-raised and game meat to restaurants in both Portland and Seattle.
The full-day event starts at 11:30 am at the Wy'East Day Lodge at Timberline Lodge, Government Camp, Oregon. Tickets are available for $65 online, or $75 at the door. The event is only open to those age 21 and over.
The chef competition will have these match-ups:
- Joshua McFadden of Ava Gene’s, Portland V Shane Ryan of Matt’s in the Market, Seattle
- Josh Scofield of Toro Bravo, Portland V Rob Sevcik of Loulay, Seattle
- Jin Soo Yang of Bamboo Sushi, Portland V Jason Stoneburner of Bastille, Seattle
- Jason French of Ned Ludd, Portland V Mike Easton of Il Corvo, Seattle
Last year, the judges' favorite was Aaron Barnett of St. Jack with a stuffed guinea hen leg. The People's Choice Award went to Joey Sequinia of Harvest Vine with a water buffalo short rib adobo.
It's a must-do event for foodies and for carnivore locavores who want to explore beyond grass-fed beef.
