“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” – 1 Corinthians 2:10
Did you ever go skinny dipping? It’s an exhilarating, fun, and liberating experience. I went skinny dipping last night; not in the natural, but in the spirit realm. I went deep in the waters of the Father. And I suggest you try it.
For the past two months, I have been trying to get to a new place in God. I felt like nothing was working to get me there. And ‘there’ in lies the problem: I was going by feeling rather than by faith. Being so focused on my effort and my natural surroundings, I lost sight of the destination.
Kind of like our skinny dipping experience. If you become so focused on your nakedness by letting your self-conscious take over, you rob yourself of the place you intended to go—even if you are already in that place!
And this is precisely what the Father said to me yesterday; after what seemed like the fiftieth time I asked God to take me to that new place in Him. God said to me: “Matthew, you are already in this new place. I know the desires of your heart, because I placed these desires in you. So stop focusing on your nakedness, and start focusing on the place that was established because of your nakedness.” That’s deep, family! But God is deep! Did you catch that? Let me restate what the Lord told me. He said “stop focusing on your nakedness, and start focusing on the place that was established because of your nakedness.”
That ‘place’ is at the foot of the Cross, where Jesus, Who God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Our loving Father made a way out of no way, when He, in the person of His Son Jesus Christ, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).
Our place is in Jesus, for we are hid in Christ (Colossians 3:3). The Son of God and Son of man testifies “In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2). These places are as much physical as they are spiritual; for in God, are the secret places that hold the desires of our heart, and cover our nakedness.
So are you ready to go? Great! Just leave your clothes behind.
Father, thank You for covering our nakedness. Thank you, Most Merciful God, for taking away our shame and nailing it to the Cross of Calvary. Help us, Oh Holy God, to get our eyes off of our selves, and to focus on the place created through Your Son just for us, because of our nakedness. In Jesus Name, we thank You that we swim, uninhibited, in the deep oceans of your Holy Spirit. Amen and Amen.
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to allow God to take you to a new place in Him. Choose to focus on the Father and not on yourself. Allow the Savior of the world to be your clothing—to cover your nakedness with His forgiving love. And continue to fight the good fight of being uninhibited in the Father; for God, your Place Holder, has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
