When you think about “jam bands,” the obvious bands like The String Cheese Incident or The Grateful Dead come to mind. Another band that flies just under the radar, especially in Colorado radio, is moe. moe. has been around for just over 30 years and holds the same kind of fan base that any of the more popular jam bands that are played on the radio in The Mile High City.

Officially starting in the 1990s, moe. formed at the University of Buffalo and released their first album Fatboy in 1992. Following some line-up changes, moe. released Headseed in 1994 and No Doy in 1996. 1998 was a big year for moe. as they released Tins Cans and Car Tires and moe. Sell Outs, followed quickly by a re-release of their first album Fatboy in 1999. They released L and L Version 3.1 in 2000, Dither in 2001, Season’s Greetings from moe. in 2002 and Wormwood in 2003. After a brief recording break they released The Conch in 2007 and Sticks and Stones in 2008. Amongst these albums include several compilations discs, dvds and other material from moe.

Not only does moe. constantly tour and record, they also have very big hearts and gave back to the communities hit by the 2005 Tsunami as well as host cruises and concerts in ski towns almost every year.

Touring yet again, moe. will be coming to Denver on February 4th, 2011 and February 5th 2011 at the Ogden Theatre. Both nights are host to intimate moe. only concerts, don’t start until 10pm, are 16+ and cost $32.50. Go check out this jam band and see what they’re all about.
