This planet can't survive without the rain forests, but the rain forests are quickly dwindling due to GMOs. Brazil's bio-diverse rainforests have been destroyed over the years for GM crops, coffee and cattle. Genetically engineered tree plantations are now being bundled within reforestation projects. They are being called the Silent Forests because the birds and animals won't live there.
The Institute for Responsible Technology is supporting an Indie GoGo project, iGive Trees, in raising the money to plant 170,000 native trees over 250 acres in Brazil. So far, they have given 6,000 trees back to an endangered rainforest by telling their story. iGive Trees can plant enough trees if people will give tree certificates as Christmas gifts this year. Five dollars will buy a tree, ten dollars will pay for someone to care for the tree for two years, until it is fully established.
We won't have to worry about what type of healthcare this planet has if something isn't done to save the rain forests. These bio-diverse trees are the lungs of the planet. They absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Half the world's plants and animals live in this six percent land mass on the earth.
