Do you want some simple, old-fashioned (and cost-effective) outdoors fun this weekend? Then head down to the Riverside Skating Center. It's winter in Indiana, so you and yours aren't heading to the beach. So what to do? The answer is ice skating. Sometimes people forget the simple things are the most fun. Provide a person with a rink and pair of skates and let their imagination take care of the rest. It's especially fun to watch children skate for the first time. This is a skill that's easier for children to learn so don't be surprised if after an hour, your little guy or gal is attempting to impersonate a speed-skater.
The rink is a staple of winter fun in the greater Lafayette area. In fact over 14,000 people have visited Riverside this year. It's an outdoor set-up right by the Wabash River; it's great for family outings and taking the kids out for the day. With the abundance of stores, restaurants; a movie theater and the park; it's entirely possible to spend the whole day at the Wabash Landing.
If it's possible, bring your own skates. You'll save a few bucks on the rental fees. They'll also sharpen your skates for you for $6.
The admission prices are $4 per person and $2 for skate rental. A group of up to 110 can rent the entire rink for two hours for $185. (This doesn't include skate rental.) If you're interested in renting rink-time call: 765-775-5120.
The skating hours:
Monday: 4-6pm & 7-9pm
Wednesday: 4-6pm &7-9pm
Friday: 4-6pm & 7-10pm
Saturday: 1-3pm, 4-6pm & 7-10pm
Sunday: 1-3pm, 4-6pm & 7-9pm
It's a seasonal business so if you can, head down there for some winter fun! The last day of the season is March 7, 2010.
