If you live in Keller, are under the age of 16, and you like to go fishing, mark your calendar for this free event: Fishing for Fun will be held at Bear Creek Park on February 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Come early to find out where the fish are hiding, and stake out your sweet spot on the pond!
There will be lots of farm-raised trout in the pond; bring your own rod, reel and whatever other fishing equipment you might have, and give it a try using the corn bait that will be provided.
In addition to the fun of fishing itself, there will be door prizes awarded every 15 minutes, and prizes for the biggest—and smallest—fish.
You can make a day of it, and take full advantage of the park when you’re done fishing, or while taking a break. The 44-acre Bear Creek Park has a wide range of amenities sure to appeal to just about every visitor—fisherman or not. Among the amenities at the park are:
- 2 playgrounds
- 2 pavilions (one large and one small)
- picnic tables and grills
- hike/bike trail
- sandbox
- 4 sand volleyball courts
- basketball court
- 5 baseball practice fields
- 4 multi-purpose fields

While there’s really only one City of Keller Parks Department rule for participating in Fishing for Fun—anglers must bring a parent or other adult—the State of Texas might have something to say.
