Go in-depth with the Canon HDSLR and DJ McConduit

Shane Carruth's UPSTREAM COLOR

Director of Photographer DJ McConduit leads another session on the HDSLR March 29th at the New Orleans Video Access Center. The session, part of NOVAC's cinematography workshop series, provides an in-depth look at the Canon HDSLR. McConduit guides participants through a breakdown of the camera's features and offers tips on lighting specific to HDSLRs. He'll also cover some post-production techniques to help the workflow.

Among the topics covered will be:

  • adjusting frame rates, manual controls, and settings
  • lighting for the HDSLR
  • composition and motion for large sensor cameras
  • accessories, etc.

Those with their own Canon 7D or 5D are invited to bring them along, though not necessary.

DJ works in both Los Angeles and New Orleans. He graduated from Dillard University with a degree in Television, Film, and Radio Production, though focuses most of his time on film. He has freelanced in commercial and documentary cinematography throughout New Orleans, and was accepted into the American Film Institute's program for cinematography, where he strengthened his camera art and craft.

The Intro to HDSLR class is $150 for current NOVAC members, and $200 for new members, which includes a year-long basic membership. The class begins 10am at NOVAC's main office.
