Go behind the construction walls at new Ihu's Breakaway Falls at Aquatica

Ihu's Breakaway Falls is a terrifying but fun new water slide opening at Aquatica on May 9. Construction is moving quickly, so if you'd like to see what an attraction looks like as its going through the final phases, jump to the video accompanying this article.

Bryan Nadeau, Vice President of Aquatica Orlando, took at the media for a sneak peek at the construction site, which is marked with a weather balloon to show the new ride's intimidating 105 foot height. Riders will plummet 80 feet once it's done. Three of the four slides will feature breakaway floors, thus giving the ride its name. The fourth will be more traditional, where riders can simply slide instead of the sudden drop.

Another fun feature of the ride will be 360 degree spirals, and it also has an extremely steep drop, sending riders nearly completely vertical for 40 feet. They'll drop at up to 24 feet per second, making it both fast and extreme.

If that sounds like it's a bit much for you, don't worry. Aquatica has tamer rides, too, as well as two wave pools and even some relaxing kiddie areas. Jump to this article for a video tour of the park. If you'd like to hear more from Nadeau, go here for an interview.
