On the heels of Josh Elliott's departure from "Good Morning America," Michael Strahan announced today that he is in talks to join the popular morning tv program.

When asked by co-host Kelly Ripa on "Live with Kelly and Michael" if he was taking the job, Strahan responded, "I don't know. If I read the papers I am." The former football phenom replaced Kelly's original co-host Regis Philbin in 2012 and quickly moved to reassure his co-host and fans, "This is my home, no matter what. I go nowhere. This is my love. You are my love. This is my job. So don't worry, anybody, I'm not going anywhere."

According to an anonymous source, Strahan is expected to play a significant role in "GMA"'s first hour while still remaining on "Live."

If talks pan out, Strahan will join "GMA" hosts Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Amy Robach, and Lara Spencer.
