2012 Dove Awards in Atlana, Georgia
The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced it is bypassing its Nashville home once again in favor of Atlanta, Georgia for the 2012 Dove Awards. The GMA Board of Directors and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today that the 43rd Annual GMA Dove Awards will again take place in Atlanta, home of the Gospel Music Channel (GMC), and aired on GMC in 2012. The move last year was said to be for one year only, but apparently the unprecedented viewers on the GMC television network and sold-out Fox Theatre, not to mention having the Governor of Georgia personally there to welcome the artists, changed the collective GMA minds.
Atlanta Exceeded Expectations
Mitchell Solarek, chairman of the GMA board states, “Our experience this past year in Atlanta exceeded our expectations. How exciting to have the Governor of Georgia personally there to welcome our artists, and guests of the show. The City of Atlanta made us feel so welcomed from the city and state leaders to the multitude of local and international media that covered the awards. We are thrilled with the results of the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards and are looking forward to another amazing outcome in 2012.”
Nashville Home of Gospel Music Association
Nashville is the home of the Gospel Music Associaation as well as many of the artists and a good percentage of the Christian record labels. Music City has been the traditional host city for the Dove Awards for more than 4 decades.
