Motor Trend recently announced yesterday (Feb.27,2013) that insiders within General Motors have confirmed they are working on an entry level Chevrolet Corvette to be released as soon as 2015. With an MSRP at just above $50,000 for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, although it is the lowest priced Corvette as of today, the price point bars many potential buyers entry. This entry level model in the works would obviously have a little less power probably not from Chevrolet’s newest LT1 (but from Chevrolet's newer 5.3 LS3 being debuted in there trucks). Modifications to the front fascia, front fender and rear diffusers will reflect the lower priced fare.
The lower priced Chevrolet Corvette has a few advantages in the market to point out. The Stingray being priced at $50,000 already makes it less expensive and as equally competitive to its competitors such as the Porsche Boxster and Cayman S. A pricepoint below $50,000 and into the $40,000 range makes the Corvette attainable to alot more people. Just because it is cheaper doesn’t mean the quality of materials will be different. Although the engine is less powerful expect it to be less than 400HP) it is also more lighter.
Chevrolet Corvette should label this Corvette as a GT or Clubsport and price it somewhere around $43,000 and it should be a huge hit.
