GM Foundation helps send Cass Tech Band to Inauguration (Photos)

Cass Tech students are excited to be headed to the Presidential Inauguration this January. Cass Tech is a nationally recognized school of excellence, and funds are being provided by the GM Foundation, according to a press release on Jan. 10, 2013.

Thanks to the GM Foundation for providing $25,000 to assist the band make their dreams come true. The Cass Tech Marching Band will play in pre-presidential parade at University of Maryland and tour Howard and Morgan State University as part of their trip package.

Thursday night, the Cass Tech band played in front of Wing Stop in Southfield to continue their fundraising efforts. The director, parent band boosters and students stood out in the cold to perform some of their hits. One teen passer-by said, “there were hundreds of people on the grounds of Wing Stop.”

Students braved the cold temperature to make their case to attend the Inauguration for January 2013.

Many thanks to the GM Foundation are in order for stepping up to assist the Cass Tech band attend the inauguration for the first time. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for the 57-member band.

The Cass Tech staff, administration, students, parents and DPS administration appreciates the GM Foundation’s commitment to revitalizing Detroit, and supporting education initiatives at key institutions as well as programs that provide students with access to cultural activities.
