GM: Best Corporate Outreach

Forgive GM

GM has a lady heading this behemoth auto corporation and not surprising, CEO Marry T Berra is not playing by the old boys rule book of secrecy, deniability, stonewalling, blaming and legal postures. When it comes to dealing with the growing revelations of faulty ignitions among other failings, she is taking them head on. She is volunteering both the company's own failings as well as across the board, generous settlement offers without courts and lawsuits.

In so doing, she is exemplifying why companies are so intent to fight cases and the potentially 'unlimited liability' companies can be exposing themselves to by taking such a good faith gesture.

We have a rare opportunity here with Ms Berra to change the litigious culture and show the rewards of responsive CEO behavior and reciprocate with this new brand of corporate responsibility and proactive community outreach. Now is the time to build out a new system for those companies willing to 'come clean' and 'clean-up' misdeeds. Few cases would offer a greater impact or present a best case scenario for such community based corporate actions.

Waiting for a political or other public figure to do just that.
