Finally a whole week of me feeling like myself has passed and with it a plethora of gluten-free news has arrived. This past week's writing brings news of the February 18th GIG of Atlanta meeting, a listing of local gluten-free Valentine's Day vittles and a candy list, and an upcoming lecture by Shelley Case in Asheville, NC.
In other gluten-free news:
- Allergic Living Magazine - The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness has arranged for its followers to get $10 off a 2-year subscription to the new Allergic Living magazine, or $5 off a 1-year subscription.
- American Gra-Frutti - has three new cupcakes: Red Velvet, Chocolate with Chocolate Chip Mint Frosting and Chocolate with Butter cream frosting. I also learned that the dedicated gluten-free bake house received its gluten-free certification from GFCO. While I was there for a sampling today, I got see their Heart Shaped cakes and one of their specialty cakes shaped like a turtle.
- Joan's GF Great Bakes - is offering 10% off any order of $60 or more now through 2/15! Use Coupon Code - Feb10 at check out.
- Johnny's New York Style Pizza - is now offering gluten-free pizza. They are using Rich's pre-made gluten-free crust. More details to follow in a separate article, but there are definitely cross contamination concerns.
- KIND Snacks - has a line of gluten-free Healthy Grains Granola Clusters in six flavors: Vanilla Blueberry with Flax Seeds, Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Oat with Flax Seeds, Maple Walnut with Chia and Quinoa, Dark Chocolate and Cranberry, and Oats and Honey with Toasted Coconut
- Kinnikinnick Foods - has launched their line of gluten-free shelf stable bread: hamburger buns, hot dog buns, multi-grain bread and white bread. These new breads can be purchased directly from their website and should start appearing on local store shelves in March. The Soft Hamburger and Soft Hot Dog Buns will replace the existing hot dog and hamburger buns. If your store is currently carrying either bun, you'll know the new ones are in stock when you see the bright yellow package.
- Live Simpli - both flavors of their instant oatmeal can be found locally at Natural Foods Warehouse
- Pamela's Products - has an entire page on their website dedicated to Valentine's Day recipes that is complete with photos.
- Royal Empire Productions presents a celiac awareness parody of Simon and Garfunkel’s Cecilia. You can contact them at Royal-Empire@hotmail.com for further information about upcoming projects and performances.
- Sweet Sensations & Espresso Bar - in Roswell is offering gluten-free sweets from American Gra-Frutti. They are located next to Studio Movie Grill and they have a selection of gourmet coffee, espresso and smoothies.
- Urban Cannibals Bodega & Deli - just added Pure Knead's gluten-free bread to its menu starting tomorrow. They will have the new white sandwich bread tomorrow and the hoagie rolls next week. The deli has a long list of sandwiches that can now be made on gluten-free bread.
