Another year has passed and again I am amazed how time flies. This has been a very busy year in both my personal life and my Celiac and gluten-free life. There were so many highlights to my year, so I thought I would pick my favorites to recap 2012. Happy New Year everyone!
January
- I was chosen to be one of the "30 Best Gluten-Free Blogs, Websites, and Tweeters to Follow in 2012"
- I hosted an amazing Gluten-Free Day at Whole Foods on the Upper West Side in the middle of a snowstorm.
- I shared my story of being gluten-free for more than 30 years with the world.
February
- I was chosen as a wegoHealth Activist Award finalist in the "Offline Crusader" category.
- I threw a launch party for the Dish Freely app here in NYC.
- I went to Aruba and ate gluten-free Dutch pancakes after a lovely swim.
March
- I co-hosted the 7th Annual Evening with the Paul Taylor Dance Company to Benefit Celiac Disease Center at the legendary Lincoln Center in New York City.
- I was the first featured blogger in the new column in Delight Gluten-Free magazine's Spring 2012 issue.
- I hosted a book signing and meet-and-greet with the amazing Kim McCosker, author of 4 Ingredients Gluten-Free.
April
- I went to Portland, Oregon for the first time and have decided it is one of my top 3 cities to be gluten-free.
- I wrote a guest post for Open Table, my favorite online reservations website.
May
- I baked 31 cupcakes to embrace the 31 years I have been gluten-free and a diagnosed Celiac.
- I was a guest of honor at the 1st Annual Mid-Hudson Walk for Celiac.
June
- My first two articles were published in Delight Gluten-Free magazine and I was added to the masthead!
- I hosted the amazing Gluten-Free Gourmet Weekend at Good Commons in Plymouth, Vermont. Three days of decadent gluten-free food and not a worry in the house!
July
- I was asked to be a recipe tester for Frito Lay by the NFCA.
- I was interviewed by cookbook author Elizabeth Barbone for her Cook Bliss podcast.
- I went on my yearly vacation to Port Stanley, Canada where the gluten-free folks outnumbered those that eat gluten.
August
- I shared my kitchen with (the now defunct) Celiacs in the House community.
- I went to Portland for the second time, eat ridiculously well and gluten-free, and even saw some gluten-free grafitti on the sidewalk.
September
- I attended the amazing Appetite for Awareness and spent a decadent gluten-free weekend in Philadelphia.
October
- I was a panelist at the 35th Annual Celiac Sprue Association National Conference.
- I was nominated for the wego Health Activist Award for "Best in Show"
- I was a recipe tester for Thai Kitchen's new Stir-Fry Rice Noodles.
- I flew trapeze with the Lara of Lara Bar at the South Street Seaport.
- I wrote my 800th post!
November
- I started an amazing online campaign to collect gluten-free food donations for those affected by Hurricane Sandy in the tri-state area.
- I gave thanks for my Celiac Disease diagnosis and the gluten-free adventures along the way.
December
- I traveled to Denver, Colorado and found it to be a relatively gluten-free friendly city.
- I sat back and reflected on what an amazing year 2012 has been for me and the gluten-free world.
