Three months of gluten-free cooking classes are awaiting budding chef's/bakers at Cook's Warehouse. Locally owned and operated, Cook's Warehouse has been a great friend to the gluten-free community and it is a pleasure to learn they are continuing to schedule these greatly needed gluten-free cooking classes in 2014.
Local favorites Julie and Charles Mayfield are back to teach Paleo classes, and new to the schedule is Chef Tracy Bloom, who follows a gluten-free diet, sharing some recipes from her impressive repertoire. At all of the cooking demos, attendees get to sample the dishes and they leave with said recipes. All of the Cook's Warehouse classes can be reserved online. To find one of the classes listed below, simply filter by cuisine, choose 'Lifestyle', and all of the gluten-free classes will appear.
The schedule for the next three months follows:
January 22 - Cook's Warehouse in Decatur from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for $45 per person. Julie and Charles Mayfield, Paleo experts and cookbook authors, will be teaching An Intro to Paleo. If you are planning to eat a Paleo-based diet full scale or just looking for tasty dishes that will help you to omit grains, gluten, dairy, and/or legumes from your diet, this class will certainly provide some answers. On the menu is: Sweet Potato Spears, Homemade Mayonnaise, Paleo “Hummus”, and Shrimp and Grits.
February 27 - Cook's Warehouse in East Cobb from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for $45 per person. Julie and Charles Mayfield, Paleo experts and cookbook authors, will be teaching Paleo for Athletes. Are you training for a marathon or just trying to fuel your body to get the most from your workouts? Paleo experts and Crossfit trainers Julie & Charles will share what it takes to meet the demanding needs of an active lifestyle. Learn how to properly fuel before, during and after exercise to maximize training and performance. They will feature simple preparations of fresh and local foods that are sure to fuel your workouts as they make: Paleo Protein Power Pancakes, Creamy Chicken Soup, and Southwestern Shepherd’s Pie.
March 12 - Cook's Warehouse in Brookhaven from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for $45 per person. Julie and Charles Mayfield, Paleo experts and cookbook authors, will be teaching Early Spring Paleo. Hopefully, the cold winter is almost a memory, and many of us are eager to embrace the warm delights of spring. Harness what's fresh and in season for your next gluten-free spring soiree: Curried Deviled Eggs, Lamb Chops with Figs and Olives, Gingered Carrots, “Creamy” Asparagus Soup (dairy free), and Lemon Bars.
March 24 - Cook's Warehouse in Decatur from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for $55 per person. Chef Tracy Bloom and Allergy Coach Brooklyn Cole are teaching a Simple Abundance classes called Spring Into Gluten-Free. You may know award winning Chef Tracy Bloom from her television appearances on Bravo’s Top Chef: DC or Lifetime’s Supermarket Superstar but she is also the co-founder, along with Allergy Coach Brooklyn Cole, of Free Cuisine, a gluten-free and allergy friendly catering and lifestyle consulting company. If you are interested in gluten-free and/or allergy-free cooking, then this class is for you. Brooklyn will discuss and answer any food allergy questions you may have and Chef Bloom will teach the class how to make: Creamy Vidalia Onion Soup with crispy Onion Rings, Fried Arancini di Riso (risotto balls), and Chocolate Peanut Butter Heaven Bars. The evening includes gluten-free wine tastings sponsored by Sherlock’s Wine Merchant and a chance to win door prizes provided by Bella Cucina Artful Foods and Cabot Cheese.
