Its opener will be entered into the loss column for the Tulsa Shock, but a double-double from its rookie forward may ease the pain as the WNBA season wears on. Former Lady Vol and local product, Glory Johnson, scored 11 points with 10 rebounds as the Shock fell to San Antonio 88-79 on Saturday. Johnson also added three assists. Johnson did not start, but played 25 minutes for Tulsa.

Another WNBA rookie and former Lady Vol, Shekinna Stricklen, scored five points with three rebounds in fifteen minutes in her debut with the Seattle Storm on Friday. The Storm fell 72-66 to Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks. Parker scored 11 points with 4 rebounds.

Nicky Anosike is also on the Sparks’ roster, but did not play in the opener. Anosike has averaged nearly ten points in her WNBA career, but is playing her first season in Los Angeles after being traded by the Minnesota Lynx.

Other Lady Vol rookies in the WNBA:

**Kelley Cain did not play in the opener for the New York Liberty.

**Earlier this month Vicki Baugh was cut by Tulsa.
